Romaine Calm and Carry On

May 16, 2018

With the recent news around romaine, we thought we’d take this opportunity to give you an update on romaine and a bit more about how we source and why we do what we do.

First off, the romaine used in our JRINKs are not born and bred in California, and our supplier has assured us there are no issues with the produce. Regardless, we wanted to respond to all of our concerned customers and not take any chances. We are flying romaine-free, folks!  For the time being, we have have removed romaine from both Fuel Me Up 1 and Fuel Me Up 2 and will be looking to introduce a new green in the coming months -- stay tuned!  If you have any suggestions, feel free to shoot them our way.

Secondly, how we source and make JRINKs.  Every day, our kitchen in Falls Church receives cases and cases of produce so we can make your juices & nut milks, fresh daily.  To ensure quality, we receive and check the produce before starting the juicing process, while rejecting any fruits or veggies that do not meet our standards.  Our vendors are 80% local but fruits like oranges, grapefruits, and lemons we source from Florida or California (whichever is the best quality).

Thirdly, about 1 in 5 of every bottle of juice produced is now recycled!  You can now return your bottles to any JRINK storeget credit for bottles and dollars spent, AND save the world at the same time.  Our goal is to get closer to 1 in every 3 bottles, getting us closer to our zero waste mission.

Finally, you may have noticed our shelf life is short AF.  Why?  Good question. Because JRINKs are raw and not High-Pressure Processed (a fancy term for pasteurization) like our grocery store peers, our juices have a shorter shelf life.  We feel the benefits outweigh the negatives, including fresher product, live enzymes (no thanks, zombie juice), and maximum nutrition for our bodies.

We started JRINK to create a healthy and easy option for our customers. You are our customers and since we’re in the wellness business, your wellbeing is everything to us.

When we were younger, vegetables were pretty terrifying (anyone else sneak all their spinach to the family dog or stuff their pockets with carrots just to dispose of them in the bathroom trash? No, just us?) but now that we’re older and a helluva lot wiser, let’s JRINK our green juice without worry.

JRINK up ladies and gents!
