Kapha Balancing Morning Routine

Feb 13, 2019

How do you start your morning? Do you jump out of bed and workout? Are you a morning mediator, or the type to snooze your alarm 15 times and then rush to work un-showered (just me?). There is no right answer to a morning routine (except that snooze thing) but you can tailor it to be in line with your dosha for a more balanced start to your day. So let’s talk about what makes a good morning for the three different doshas.

P.S. If you don’t know what your dosha is, take the Dosha Quiz

Kapha Balancing Morning Routine

Oh my Kapha darling - I know. You wish you didn’t even see the morning and got to sleep through it instead. I’m going to ask you to go against that inclination and instead WAKE UP with something you’re really excited to do. A Kapha in motion stays in motion, so if you get up and get moving in the morning, you’ll have that much more energy for the rest of your day.

  • Wake up (BEFORE 8 am please!), and hop out of bed! No snooze buttons or Instagram.
  • Schedule a morning workout class - meet a friend there, or just get out there and SEE someone. Working out in a group is going to feel so much better than working out on your own.
  • When you get home and shower, make sure you end your shower with about 30 seconds of cold water to get your blood flowing!
  • Get a breakfast that is light and spicy. You’d do great with a juice that’s full of greens and ginger (like the Fuel Me Up 1 from Apothékarys sister, JRINK!). You might want something more substantial for your breakfast (and please do if you’re super hungry) but avoid the tendency to make your breakfast sweet or carb heavy, instead opting for vegetables and spice.

You CAN have a morning that feels great. One of the best things about Ayurveda is that everything is an experiment. Try on one of these morning routines for a week and see how you feel! If something isn’t fitting right, you can always make changes.

If you want some more personalized help in designing a balancing, energizing morning, book an Ayurvedic consult with one of our Wellth Advisors (spoiler alert…I’m one of them!).

In Balance and Bliss,

Sam
