Many of us have noticed that overtime our hair seems to have become thinner, our skin begins losing some of its youthful elasticity, and we wake up with our joints feeling a little stiffer. As we age, our hair strands become finer and our hair follicles begin producing less hairs overall. But many other factors can also contribute to hair loss such as thyroid issues, hormonal changes, menopause, autoimmune conditions, and nutritional deficiencies.

Fortunately, we have an herbal solution: introducing Mane Character. Mane Character focuses on using potent herbal ingredients rich in vital nutrients for hair, nails, skin growth, as well as connective tissue support. There are several nutrients in the formula that are helpful for hair growth and improving our overall health including iron, zinc, essential fatty acids, Vitamin A, C, E, B6, B12, folic acid, protein, and magnesium. Each herbal ingredient has relevant research related to the particular benefits for connective tissues–yes hair is considered a connective tissue!

These herbs won’t benefit us overnight. They build up in our bodies over time to curb nutritional deficiencies and improve our radiance from the inside out. This formula has a subtle flavor with vanilla, nutty, and mildly bitter notes and a sweet finish with a hint of cinnamon. It tastes great in hot water, warm milk, or part of a daily smoothie or breakfast bowl – so taking your herbs everyday is easy!

What herbs are inside of Mane Character?

Horsetail
Horsetail is one of the oldest plants on the planet with its first record dating back more than 300 million years ago. It is an essential nutrient for all the structures of the body that use silica and collagen. It can contain up to 25% silica which helps build healthy connective tissues and supporting collagen synthesis for bones, hair, skin, and nails. As we age, the amount of silicon in the body naturally decreases so supplementation can increase our resistance to brittleness. In addition to silica, horsetail is a rich source of flavonoids and potassium which are also key to the growth of our tissues-–whichare constantly growing and regenerating. A clinical study showed horsetail’s ability to increase terminal hair growth after three months of use compared to a placebo. Higher rates of silica content in the hair can help lower rates of hair loss and increase overall luminosity.

Moringa
Moringa leaves are a bountiful source of protein, vitamins, calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, magnesium, amino acids, and antioxidants. Moringa is rich in beta-carotene, Vitamin C, and  Vitamin E, all of which are important nutrients for hair growth. The high vitamin content supports healthy immune function, boosted collagen production, and helps protect our cells from the damaging effects of free radicals. Lastly, the high vitamin content also assists with iron absorption (iron deficiency can be connected to hair loss). The amino acids and high amounts of digestible protein in the plant contribute to bone, muscle, and nail strength. Up to 25% of the leaf’s weight is made up of essential amino acids and proteins.  Amino acids are the building blocks of our cells and are important for rejuvenating our hair follicles.

Amla
Amla, also known as Indian Gooseberry, has been long revered in Ayurvedic medicine and many other traditional herbal medicine modalities throughout Southeast Asia. It is one of the three fruits within the traditional formula triphala–which is an incredible digestive and regulatory aid. It is said to contain five of the six tastes with sour being  the predominant flavor. One small fruit contains as much as twenty times the amount of Vitamin C as an orange. Its high nutrient content contributes to its ability to support the health of our connective tissues.

Amla has been traditionally used as a nutritive tonic, rejuvenator, and immunomodulator to promote longevity. It has also been used historically to promote hair growth and health. It can be found in many traditional recipes for enhancing hair growth and pigmentation. Modern research has shown its value for helping to maintain and rebuild connective tissues–like hair, nails and cartilage. Numerous studies have shown the fruit's valuable contribution for hair growth, shine and texture.

Tocotrienol

More commonly known as tocos powder, is a superfood and member of the vitamin E family. Our tocotrienol powder is derived from rice bran solubles and is rich in fat-soluble vitamin E. It’s mildly sweet and creamy with vanilla notes and beautifully rounds out the earthy nutrient rich herbs within the formula. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant (antioxidants reduce cell damage and can help with healthy hair growth). Studies have shown that oxidative stress can be linked to hair loss and antioxidants are a key aspect to decreasing oxidative damage.  Vitamin E is also protective for our skin and other connective tissues and has been utilized in dermatology for over 50 years.

Several studies have demonstrated the possibility of tocos supplements improving hair quality. In one trial, the use of tocotrienol capsules increased hair numbers compared to a placebo group. In another eight-month study, 95% of volunteers experienced hair growth after taking toco capsules.

Other ingredients: Lucuma, cinnamon, and coconut cream powder

Lucuma is a superfruit native to the Andean region of South America. It adds a nice sweetness to the formula while offering total-body benefits with its high antioxidant content. Cinnamon brings spice and activation and coconut cream powder brings a healthy fat content that helps bind the herbs into liquid as well as helping nutrients like vitamin E best absorb into our bodies.
